After a delivery driver was shot and robbed last night, Second Precinct detectives arrested the men responsible before the victim even had a chance to call 911.
So how’d they do that?
Good detective work, partnering with other Department officers and recognizing a crime trend at the very start all played a factor.
“I’m very proud of these officers and detectives. They know their community and worked well together to identify the suspects and then patrol the areas where they predicted they would be to catch them. And they did,” Second Precinct Capt. Harvey Powers said.
“I think this says to criminals that you never know whether that car that drives by is an undercover police officer.”
The robbery occurred just before 10 p.m. Tuesday when the victim, a 59-year-old male, was delivering food to a home in the 800 block of Newkirk Drive when he was approached by two unknown males. The robbers assaulted and robbed the victim at gunpoint and fled in a vehicle.
Detectives were already in the area, figured out what was going on and arrested the robbers within seconds.
Arrested and charged with robbery was:
*Andryly Brito, 19, of the 800 block of Woodhaven Drive, and
*Shaquille R. Liggins, 19, of the 600 block of Shelby Drive.

Scam Targeting Dominion Virginia Power Business Customers
Richmond Police detectives would like to warn area business owners about a scam targeting Dominion Virginia Power business customers.
Detectives are currently investigating at least two incidents on Jan. 4 and Jan. 7 of a man calling a city business, pretending to be a Dominion employee and threatening to cut off power to the business if a certain amount isn’t paid quickly. The scammer tells the business that the account either hasn’t been paid or that there are additional fees on the account.
If you receive one of these phone calls, detectives recommend that customers contact Dominion Virginia Power via a landline phone on one of the agency’s official phone numbers before taking any action.
Anyone who thinks they may have been a victim of such a crime or anyone with any information about these crimes is asked to call Fourth Precinct Detective Todd Perseghin at (804) 646-3103 or Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
