With the help of the community, the Richmond Police
Department has identified and arrested a Richmond man in connection with a
robbery that occurred last week.
Kenneth L. Artis, 49, of the 3100 block of M Street, was
arrested Wednesday and charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the
commission of a felony. Both charges are felonies.
“We would like to thank the community that came forward and gave us a clearer picture of what happened, and ultimately helped us solve this case,” said First Precinct Lt. Dan Minton following a public appeal Richmond Police made for surveillance photos and video that could help clarify the incident.
Around 1 a.m. on November 25, a female driver was stopped in
the Chimborazo neighborhood when the suspect approached her vehicle and got
into the passenger seat. The pair drove a few blocks away to Chimborazo
Park, where the suspect stole cash, a mobile phone and credit cards before
fleeing on foot through the park towards the dog park area.
Investigation revealed that there was a connection between
the suspect and victim. Detectives believe this was an isolated incident.
There were no injuries.
Detectives ask anyone with an image of the suspect or any
information about this incident to call First Precinct Detective Brian
