Arrest Made in Hunt Avenue Homicide Investigation
Richmond Police detectives, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, have made an arrest in the homicide that occurred on Sunday on Hunt Avenue.
Michael Sprague, 57, of Richmond, was arrested yesterday and he has been charged with shooting within an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Additional charges are pending. Booking photo attached.
At approximately 9:33 p.m., Sunday, August 24, officers were called to the 500 block of Hunt Avenue for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult female, Johnnita Russell 34, of Richmond, inside of a residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
