Fatal Single Vehicle Crash on Chippenham Parkway
The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is investigating a fatal single vehicle crash that occurred on Chippenham Parkway.
On Saturday at approximately 4:52 a.m., officers were called to the northbound lanes of Chippenham Parkway near the Forest Hill interchange for the single vehicle crash. Officers arrived and found the damaged vehicle overturned in the northbound lanes and an adult male down and unresponsive in the roadway. The male, Omar Colina Leal, 20, of Henrico, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The RPD Crash Team responded to the scene and determined Leal was the driver and sole occupant of the crashed vehicle and that speed was a factor in the crash. The investigation continues.
The northbound lanes of Chippenham Parkway were closed for several hours to accommodate the investigation.
