Fatal Hit and Run Involving Pedestrian on Semmes Avenue

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is investigating a fatal hit and run involving a pedestrian and a vehicle in the 1400 block of Semmes Avenue.

Yesterday at approximately 11:31 p.m., officers were called to the 1400 block of Semmes Avenue, near the intersection of West 15th Street, for the report of a person struck by a vehicle. Officers responded and found an adult female down and unresponsive in the eastbound lanes of the roadway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RPD Crash Team responded to investigate and determined the pedestrian was crossing Semmes Avenue northbound when she was struck by a vehicle operating eastbound. The driver of the vehicle had driven from the scene prior to the arrival of officers.


The fatal collision is being investigated as a hit and run. The investigation continues.
