RPD Asks for Public’s Assistance Identifying an Unknown Deceased Male - Identified

Richmond Police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a male who was found early Sunday morning.

At approximately 7:06 a.m. on Sunday, January 24, an unknown deceased male with no form of identification was found in the 6700 block of Three Chopt Road. No foul play is suspected.

The male is described as a white male in his late teens or early twenties with hazel eyes, dark hair, and a slim build. He was wearing a tan long sleeve shirt with a distinctive design on the front of the shirt, grey sweatpants, grey shoes with green on them and had a tan backpack. Photos of the clothing are attached.

Deforrest Street Death Investigation

At approximately 12:09 am, officers responded to the 2100 block of Deforrest Street for the report of shots fired.  Officers arrived and found Marquis Bowles, an adult male in his twenties with apparent gunshot wounds.  He was pronounced on scene.  A juvenile male in his teens was transported from a nearby location to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives have determined these two incidents are related.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Suspect Sought in Jefferson Davis Highway Commercial Burglary

Richmond Police detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify the individual in the attached photos who is a suspect in a commercial burglary that occurred last week.

At approximately 2:40 a.m. on Friday, an unknown male broke into the Boost Mobile in the 0 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. The suspect stole several cell phones and fled the scene.

He was last seen wearing pajama pants and a hooded sweatshirt.

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing Richmond woman.

Faith Peters was reported missing on January 15, 2021 and was last seen on Monday, January 11. She suffers from several health conditions and may be in need of medication.

Peters is approximately 5’ 3” and weighs about 120 pounds.

Arrest Made in Arthur Ashe Boulevard Homicide

January 20, 2021

Richmond Police detectives have made an arrest in last summer’s homicide on Arthur Ashe Boulevard.

Marquise McCormick was incarcerated in Chesterfield County on unrelated charges. Last week, he was charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in relation to the Richmond homicide.

At approximately 1:43 a.m., Tuesday, June 2nd, RPD officers were called to the Rodeway Inn in the 3200 block of N. Arthur Ashe Boulevard for a report of a person shot. They quickly located a victim, Jermaine Stroman lying in a third floor hallway. He had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in last night’s homicide on Stockton Street as Sara Andrews, a female in her twenties.

At approximately 8:48 p.m. yesterday, officers responded to the 3300 block of Stockton Street for the report of a person down. When officers arrived, they found Sara Andrews suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in yesterday’s death investigation in Whitcomb Court as Jamoine Tyler, a male in his 30s.

At approximately 6:06 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, officers responded to the 2300 block of Ambrose Street for the report of a person shot. Once on scene, they found Tyler with apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Suspect Sought in Theft of Elderly Man at Convenience Store

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify the individual in the attached photos who stole money from an elderly man at a convenience store earlier this week.

At approximately 3:34 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, the male suspect is seen inside Night & Day, located at 2829 Q Street. He then snatches an envelope containing an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim, who was standing at the counter. The suspect proceeds to run from the store.

The suspect was shown wearing a blue Nike t-shirt, a dark jacket, dark pants, and white tennis shoes.

Lobby Day 2021 Road Closures and Preparations

The Richmond Police Department is dedicated and committed to ensuring public safety before, during, and after Lobby Day 2021.

The Department is continuing to monitor activity in and around Richmond, as well as working with other law enforcement agencies. Operations and personnel are in place to address public safety needs.

In anticipation of events, signs prohibiting firearms will be placed throughout the city to inform those who may gather that firearms are prohibited at permitted events and events that would otherwise require a permit, as well as areas adjacent to such events.

We encourage the community to stay vigilant. If you see something, say something. Report any suspicious activity immediately by calling the non-emergency line at 804-646-5100 or 911 for emergencies.

If you live or work in the area surrounding Capitol Square and downtown, you should expect disruptions to your usual routines. Traffic will be impacted starting at 6 a.m. on Sunday, January 17 until 6 p.m. Monday, January 18. Maps of the closures are attached.

The following roads will be closed during that time period:

  •  9th Street between E. Main Street and E. Broad Street
  • 10th Street between E. Cary Street and Bank Street
  • East Main Street between 14th Street and 9th Street
  •  Bank Street between 14th Street and Governor Street
  • Franklin Street between 8th and 9th Streets
  • Franklin Street between 7th and 8th Streets
  • East Grace Street between 8th and 9th  Streets
  • East Grace Street between 7th and 8th Streets
  • 12th Street between Cary Street and Bank Street
  • Monument Avenue between Meadow Street and Lombardy Street
  • Allen Avenue between W. Grace Street and Park Avenue

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing man.

Robert E. White, Jr., 63, was reported missing by family on December 28, 2020.  They are concerned for his safety.  White has not been seen by family since November 2020 and his last known phone contact was on December 17, 2020.  He frequents the Church Hill and Fairmount neighborhoods.

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing Richmond man.

Ja’vonte Conyard was reported missing yesterday from the 5600 block of Melmark Road. He has no history of running away, so his family is concerned. He was last seen on January 7, 2021 wearing a white shirt, gray sweatpants and black Jordan sneakers.

Conyard is approximately 5’ 2” and weighs about 130 pounds.

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing Richmond woman.

Michelle Williams was reported missing on January 6, 2021 from the 7800 block of Forest Hill Avenue.  She disappeared on December 29, 2020, and suffers from some health conditions. Williams has been missing multiple times before, but she has always returned within two days.  

Williams is approximately 5’ 0” and weighs about 145 pounds.  She was last seen wearing plaid pajama pants and a dark red hoodie, imprinted with a yellow HALPERNS’ logo.

Suspect Sought in Commercial Armed Robbery on West Hill Street

Richmond Police detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify the individuals in the attached photos, who are suspects in a commercial armed robbery that occurred last month.

At approximately 8 p.m. on December 14, 2020, the two male suspects walked into the Tiger Mart convenience store, located at 200 West Hill Street, displayed firearms and robbed the store of an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects then fled on foot, but security video captured them getting into a small white Toyota SUV (photos attached).

Missing Man Sought

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing Richmond man.

Jesse Fredericks was last seen yesterday, January 4 in the 3200 block of Chamberlayne Avenue. He was last seen wearing a blue or black puffer jacket, blue jeans, blue shoes, and a black and blue skull cap. Fredericks suffers from a mental health disorder and may be off his medication. 

Fredericks is approximately 5’ 11” and weighs about 164 pounds.

Suspect Arrested in Coalter Street Officer-Involved Shooting

January 5, 2021

The Richmond Police Department is continuing to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on New Year’s Eve in the 1300 block of Coalter Street.

The suspect has been identified as Orlando J. Carter Jr.

Carter Jr. has been charged with possession of a firearm while being a convicted felon, felony attempt to elude police, reckless driving, and additional driving related offenses. His booking photo is attached.

At approximately 5:05 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020, two officers attempted to stop a vehicle at the intersection of N. 20th Street and Fairmount Avenue

The vehicle failed to stop and was pursued to the 1300 block of Coalter Street where the vehicle crashed.

Orlando Carter Jr., the sole occupant of the vehicle exited the car with a firearm, attempted to flee and pointed a firearm at Officer Ja-Ontay Wilson. Officer Wilson discharged his service weapon, striking Carter Jr. Responding officers called for EMS and began rendering medical assistance. Carter Jr. was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Carter Jr.’s firearm was recovered at the scene.

Officer Ja-Ontay Wilson is a three year veteran of the Richmond Police Department. He has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

The incident is being investigated by the Officer Involved Investigation Team.

Information Sought in New Year’s Day Shooting

Richmond Police detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing information about a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day in the Swansboro neighborhood.

 

At approximately 3:49 a.m., officers were called to the 00 block of East 19th Street for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and located an adult female who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital with an injury that was considered life threatening.

 

Detectives are asking for anyone with knowledge of the incident or who saw suspicious activity in that area, which is between Hull and Decatur streets, in the early hours of Friday, January 1, to contact detectives.

Victim Identified in Jefferson Davis Highway Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in Thursday’s homicide on Jefferson Davis Highway as Eusebio Calderon, a male in his sixties.

At approximately 4:40 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, officers responded to the 2900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway for the report of a person shot. Once on scene, they found Eusebio Calderon suffering life threatening injuries from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause and manner of death.
