Suspect Identified, Sought in Multiple Mailroom Burglaries

Richmond Police detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the male in the photos who has been identified as the suspect in multiple burglaries and package thefts from the mailrooms of apartment buildings recently.

Detectives are seeking Jamal Bowles, 42, in connection to multiple incidents in apartment buildings in Shockoe Bottom and a commercial building on Oliver Hill Way.

Bowles is 6’ 1” tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. Photos of Bowles from apartment building surveillance cameras are attached.

Victim Identified in Richmond Highway Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim of yesterday’s homicide on Richmond Highway as Isaiah Johnson, 21, of Hopewell.                     

On Monday, August 28, at approximately 5:24 p.m., while working a collision in the 300 block of Richmond Highway, officers were approached and notified of a shooting.  Detectives determined that Johnson was shot in the 4300 block of Richmond Highway and was being transported to the hospital when the occupants of the vehicle observed and notified police.  Richmond Ambulance Authority responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the homicide yesterday on West Baker Street as Temetrius Coker, 27, of Richmond.

Yesterday at approximately 4:57 a.m., officers were called to the 200 block of West Baker Street for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male, Coker, down and unresponsive on the roadway. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

At approximately 4:57 a.m., officers were called to the 200 block of West Baker Street for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male down and unresponsive on the roadway. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the shooting on South Lombardy Street last week as Tyvon Williams, 31, of Richmond.

At approximately 7:05 p.m., on Thursday, August 17, officers were called to the 800 block of South Lombardy Street for the report of a shooting. Officers located an adult male, Williams, down and unresponsive in a rear yard of a home. He had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Victim Identified, Suspect Surrenders after Fatal Act Involving Vehicle

The suspect driver, connected to a fatal incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Littlepage Street on Saturday, August 12, surrendered to Richmond Police detectives last week. RPD detectives have also identified the victim.

Tierra Carter, 35, of Richmond, surrendered at RPD Headquarters on Thursday. She has been charged with felony hit and run in connection to the incident. Additional charges are pending. Her booking photo is attached.

Detectives have identified the victim as Vanmeshia Proctor, 26, of Richmond.

On Saturday, August 12, at approximately 6:29 a.m., officers were called to the 1600 block of Littlepage Street for the report of a pedestrian struck. Officers arrived and found an adult female, Proctor, down and injured after being struck by a vehicle. She was transported to a local hospital where later that day she succumbed to her injuries.

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team responded and determined the vehicle was traveling on Littlepage Street when it struck Proctor before the motorist fled the scene. Following additional investigation, RPD Major Crimes detectives developed Carter as a suspect.

Arrest Made in No Limit Towing Investigation

The suspect in an investigation of fraud and motor vehicle thefts via a tow company, subject of a search warrant and press conference announcement last week, has been arrested.

Sherral Crawley, 42, of Chesterfield, surrendered to Richmond Police detectives yesterday without incident at the Richmond Justice Center. She has been charged with motor vehicle theft x16 and obtaining money by false pretenses. Her booking photo is attached.

On Friday, August 11, the Richmond Police Department and agents from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles served a search warrant on No Limit Towing and Recovery, located at 4505 Richmond Highway, as a result of an investigation dating back to December 2022.

A press conference was held following the search alerting the public to the investigation and attempts to locate Crawley.

“This investigation is a result of months and months of research, interviews, meticulous follow-up by detectives and collaboration and work by our partner, DMV, that brings an end to this criminal behavior,” said Chief Rick Edwards. “I commend the RPD officers and detectives whose dedicated work resulted in these charges.”

Since the press event announcing the search, several victims have come forward reporting similar thefts regarding towing companies. Reward Offered by Family of Homicide Victim


A $2,000 reward is being offered by the family of homicide victim Jeremiah Darden to try to encourage those with knowledge of the shooting to provide information.

 

Darden was shot and killed in September 2020 while walking in the 00 block of East Blake Lane. He was alone when one suspect, began to open fire, striking Darden several times.

 

The family of Jeremiah Darden has continued to partner with The Richmond Police Department as we investigate the homicide of their loved one. The family has offered the $2,000 reward in hopes that someone will provide information that will lead to a conviction for the murder.

Quick Arrest Made in North Lombardy Street Shooting

Following the rapid work by Richmond Police Department patrol officers who responded to a shooting on North Lombardy Street this morning, a quick apprehension was made and detectives have charged the suspect.

Quasia Hayes, 22, of Richmond, has been charged with attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Her booking photo is attached.

At approximately 11:01 a.m., officers were called to the 900 block of North Lombardy Street for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found in the business at that location an adult female who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound. She received treatment at the scene for an injury that was not considered life threatening.

The patrol officers gathered information, developed a suspect description and coordinated their efforts to locate and arrest the suspect.

“This is outstanding work by Fourth Precinct patrol officers who were able to make an apprehension within minutes of the shooting,” said Chief Rick Edwards. “Quick response from experienced officers executing strategic and coordinated efforts made this fast arrest possible.”

Fatal Collision on North Arthur Ashe Boulevard

At approximately 8:51 a.m., officers were called to North Arthur Ashe Boulevard for the report of a collision. Officers arrived and found an adult male, who was the sole occupant of a motorcycle, had collided with a flatbed truck at the intersection with Avenue of Champions. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the truck remained on scene.

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team responded. Investigators have determined the truck was turning left, northbound, on North Arthur Ashe Boulevard when the motorcycle, traveling southbound, struck the truck in the southbound lane.

North Arthur Ashe Boulevard was closed in both directions to accommodate the investigation.

The investigation continues.

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim of a homicide on Garber Street on Monday as Aiden Minor, 18, of Henrico.

On Monday at approximately 7:19 p.m., officers were called to the 1200 block of Garber Street for the report of random gunfire. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Minor, down and unresponsive in a side yard of a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suspect Sought for Conspiracy to Commit Murder


Richmond Police detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Domishek Forbes, 28, of Richmond, who is a suspect in a homicide that occurred last month.  His photo is attached. 


At approximately 9:24 p.m. on Monday, July 3, officers were called to the 1900 block of Raven Street for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and located a vehicle that had gone off the road and into the woods at the intersection of Raven and Ford Streets. Officers found the sole occupant of the vehicle, Darryl Jordan, Jr., in the driver’s seat.  He had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suspects in Attempted Robbery Sought

Richmond Police detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects in the attached photos who attempted a robbery at a business on West Broad Street last month.

At approximately 5:22 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, officers were called to the 1500 block of West Broad Street for the report of an attempted robbery. The employee reported two adult males entered the business and demanded merchandise. The suspects, both seen wearing white t-shirts and one suspect a gray colored hoodie and hat in the photos, grabbed the employee by the arm and demanded they give them access to the storage closet. The suspects then fled the area in a white vehicle.

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim of a homicide last night on Phaup Street as Zion Joseph, 24, of Richmond.

At approximately 11:55 p.m., officers were called to the 1900 block of Phaup Street for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Joseph, down and injured in front of a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where early this morning he succumbed to his injuries.

Victim Identified, Suspect Charged in East Broad Street Homicide

The victim of a shooting on East Broad Street in June has died and a male has been charged in connection to the homicide. The victim, Doniell Herman, Jr., 26, of Richmond, succumbed to his injury on Saturday in a local hospital where he had been receiving treatment for his injuries since the shooting on June 24.

Deshawn Sheppard, 19, of Richmond, was arrested by Richmond detectives on July 13 and has been charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Additional charges are pending. His booking photo is attached.

At approximately 6:03 p.m., Saturday, June 24, officers were called to the 100 block of East Broad Street for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Herman, Jr., suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were considered life threatening.
