BACKGROUND:     Interim Chief William Smith and Richmond Police Department officers will walk through Richmond’s Six Points neighborhood today. During the walk, Members of the RPD will speak with community members about safety concerns they may have and what they would like to see from the Richmond Police Department.

Newly promoted Sector 411 Lt. Anthony Jackson said there has been a lot of investment in this portion of the city. He plans to focus on things residents can do to help prevent motor vehicle thefts and theft from motor vehicles.

“We will have face to face interactions with the residents in the neighborhood to alert them of issues we are noticing and remind them to contact us with any concerns they might have,” said Lt. Jackson. “This is a great way for us to connect to the community we serve.”

This event is the latest in a series of walks conducted by the Richmond Police Department in neighborhoods throughout the city.

Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
