Arrest Made, Victim Identified in West Cary Street Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have made an arrest and identified the victim in yesterday’s homicide on West Cary Street.

At approximately 8:24 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2020, officers responded to the 1700 block of West Cary Street for the report of male possibly having a psychotic episode outside. Once on scene, they came in contact with Maury E. Williams. Williams informed officers of an incident that occurred inside a nearby residence, where they found his girlfriend, Christina Cunningham – a female in her 20s – unresponsive with apparent stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Williams was arrested and has been charged with Murder and Stabbing in the Commission of a Felony. His booking photo is attached.

Detectives have determined the suspect and victim had been in a relationship for approximately one year.
