Identification Made in Fatal Pedestrian Crash in North Richmond.

The Richmond Police Department’s Crash Team investigators have identified the pedestrian who was killed in the fatal crash that occurred on Wednesday in the 2900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue as William Miller Carter, 62, of Richmond, VA.  

At approximately 6:44 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2022, officers were called to the 2900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for a report of pedestrian who had been struck by a Commercial Street Sweeper. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Carter, who was crossing from the east side of the street to the west, unresponsive after being struck by the Street Sweeper which was traveling south on Chamberlayne Avenue. 

Williams was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  The driver of the Street Sweeper remained at the crash site.
