At approximately 8:47 p.m. on Friday, October 13, officers were called to the intersection of Nansemond and Ellwood streets for the report of a hit and run.

The victim was operating his vehicle southbound on Nansemond Street and slowed to stop for pedestrians entering a crosswalk to cross Nansemond Street. The suspect vehicle was northbound in the intersection waiting for opposing traffic to clear to complete a left turn onto Ellwood Street.

When the victim stopped his vehicle for the pedestrians, the suspect made the left turn, striking and damaging the victim’s vehicle in the intersection. The damage included the rear bumper being torn off the car. No injuries were reported.

Investigators are seeking information on the vehicle, possibly a silver sedan, last seen traveling westbound on Ellwood Street. The sedan will have damage to the front left and left side of the vehicle.

Anyone with information about the identity of the driver or information about the vehicle is asked to contact Hit and Run Investigator G. Drago at (804) 646-1369 or Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000. The P3 Tips Crime Stoppers app for smartphones also may be used. All Crime Stoppers reporting methods are anonymous.
