Arrest Made in Grace Street Shooting
Richmond Police Department detectives, with assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, have arrested the suspect in the shooting on East Grace Street earlier this month.
This morning, detectives arrested Jaekwaun Barbee, 29, of Henrico County, without incident. He has been charged with attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. His booking photo is attached.
At approximately 1:33 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, officers were called to the 200 block of East Grace Street for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were considered life threatening. His injuries are no longer considered life threatening.
Detectives with the RPD Major Crimes division have been investigating this shooting and have determined it began as a verbal altercation which escalated to a physical altercation and shooting.
