The driver involved in the hit and run collision of a bicyclist on Williamsburg Avenue on Sunday surrendered today without incident.
Jorge Gudino Vasquez, 24, of Henrico County, has been charged with felony hit and run and operating a motor vehicle without a license. His booking photo is attached.
At approximately 1:05 a.m. on July 19, officers were called to a collision in the 5100 block of Williamsburg Avenue. Officers arrived and found an adult male bicyclist lying in the travel lane of the roadway. He had suffered an injury from being struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle did not remain on scene. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were considered life threatening.
The Richmond Police Department's Crash Team responded and began the investigation. Investigators used data from Flock automatic license plate readers and information from the public to locate the vehicle, which was seized yesterday.
