Suspect Indicted in Stabbing Homicide and Aggravated Assault, Was Involved in Injuring Task Force Officer from VSP
Following an indictment by a grand jury last week, the suspect in a stabbing homicide and aggravated assault on July 18 has been charged. He was also involved in the stabbing of a Task Force officer from the Virginia State Police that same day.
RPD detectives were assisted by the U.S. Marshal’s Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. Flock automatic license plate readers were used, in part, to locate the suspect on July 18 just hours after the violent crimes.
Jordan Condra, 36, unhoused, has been charged with murder, malicious wounding, and assault during the commission of a felony (x2). His booking photo is attached.
Condra has been previously charged by the Virginia State Police in connection with the wounding of the Task Force officer.
Early Saturday morning, July 18, at approximately 1:33 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of East Marshall Street for a report of a person who had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who had been sleeping on a bench and was suffering from a stab wound. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries which were not considered life-threatening.
At approximately 6:08 a.m. on July 18, the Richmond Ambulance Authority responded to the report of a male who was bleeding in the 100 block of East Cary Street. Emergency personnel located a deceased adult male, Devin Sherrod, 57, unhoused, who had been sleeping in a parking deck and had suffered an apparent stab wound.
At approximately 3:35 p.m. on July 18, officers located the vehicle of interest and the suspect near East 18th and Everett streets. Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force approached the suspect. During the encounter, the suspect stabbed a Task Force member, who then discharged his weapon.
The suspect, Condra, was transported to a local hospital with injuries initially considered life threatening. He is now in custody at the Richmond Justice Center.
The Task Force member who was stabbed was also transported to a local hospital with injuries initially considered life threatening.
A second Task Force member sustained injuries during the incident and was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The Virginia State Police are leading the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
No RPD officers were injured or discharged their weapons during the incident.
