Man Arrested for East Main Street Homicide

Richmond Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with the April 24 homicide in the 1800 block of East Main Street near Have a Nice Day Café.

Kevin A. Cunningham, 21, of Highland Springs, was indicted Tuesday for murder by a grand jury. With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Cunningham was arrested Thursday night.

He is accused of fatally shooting Jeremy A. Uzzle, 20, of the 300 block of Beech Road, Petersburg.

With this arrest, the Department has cleared 15 of 20 homicides, or 75 percent, this year. Investigators have very strong leads in several of the remaining cases.

North 20th Street Homicide Update

Richmond Police have identified the man found shot to death late last night as William D. Peet, 29, of the 1700 block of North 20th Street.

At approximately 10:50 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to an apartment at 1714 N. 20th St. for a report of a person down inside a residence, and found Peet dead at the scene.

Investigators believe this homicide was not a random act.

Investigators are also following up on several leads, but ask anyone with any information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.

Arrest Made in East Grace Street Homicide

The Richmond Police Department has arrested Franklin Wayne Taylor, 21, 2200 block of North 27th Street, Richmond for the murder of Reshawn Devon Thurman earlier this month.

Officers received a call for shots fired at 2 a.m., May 9th in a parking lot in the 1600 block of East Grace Street. There they found Thurman, 28, 1100 block of Hinton Street, Petersburg shot to death.

Taylor was identified as a suspect in the case that night. He was served today with a grand jury indictment for murder.

East Grace Street Homicide

Richmond Police investigators have identified the man found shot to death early this morning as Reshawn Devon Thurman, 28, of the 1100 block of Hinton Street in Petersburg.

Officers received a call for shots fired at 2 a.m. and found Thurman at 2:01 a.m. in a parking lot in the 1600 block of East Grace Street.

Investigators are in the early stages of this homicide investigation and ask anyone with any information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.

Arrests, Indictments Clear All But Two April Homicides

In the month of April, Richmond experienced nine homicides. Of those nine homicides, seven have been cleared and two have very strong leads.

“Because of the great cooperation we received from community members and the hard work of our officers and detectives, we’ve been able to develop these leads and make these arrests,” Chief Bryan T. Norwood said.

Investigators have very strong leads in the April 1 homicide of Tyree Jerard Jefferson Jr. in the Oakwood Cemetery at 3101 Nine Mile Road as well as the April 24 homicide of Jeremy Uzzle in the parking lot at 11 S. 18th St.

In the April 1 homicide of Devin L. Morse at 1820 Creighton Road, Clinton L. Johnson, 19, of the 1800 block of North 21st Street, was indicted Tuesday for murder.

Additionally, Brian K. Butts, 30, of the 1100 block of Aldwell Drive, was indicted Tuesday in the April 11 murder of Christopher J. Mackin at 5005 Pine Crest Ave.

The April 2 homicides of Tarchelle Nicole Daniel and Charles Jackson were cleared by the suicide of the offender.

Richmond Police made arrests at the scenes of both homicides on April 9 in the 1400 block of Overlook Street and on April 10 at 3934 Piney Road.

With the community’s help, investigators quickly identified Craig Butler, 34, and Kevin Antoine Alert, 23, (pictured) as the two men wanted in connection with the April 28, robbery-related homicide of Brandon Justin-Louis Webb at the Host Inn on Midlothian Turnpike. Butler has been arrested and have warrants out for Alert’s arrest.

Second Midlothian Homicide Suspect Sought

Richmond Police need the public’s help in finding Kevin Antoine Alert, 23, of the 2000 block of Q Street or the 10,000 block of Woodman Road in Henrico County.

Alert has been identified as the second suspect wanted in connection with last Thursday’s homicide at the Host Inn, 6621 Midlothian Turnpike. He is about 5’10”, weighs approximately 175 pounds and now has short, low cut hair. He is also known to hang out in the 1800 block of Creighton Road.

The first suspect, Craig Butler, 34, no fixed address, was arrested Friday in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

On April 28, Brandon Justin-Louis Webb, 24, of the 1400 block of Georgia Avenue, was found shot to death at 10:48 a.m. inside a room of the motel.

Midlothian Homicide Suspect Video

These two suspects are wanted in connection with yesterday’s homicide at the Host Inn at 6621 Midlothian Turnpike.

Midlothian Turnpike Homicide

Richmond Police have identified the man shot to death yesterday as Brandon Justin-Louis Webb, 24, of the 1400 block of Georgia Avenue.

Officers received a call for a person shot in a room of the Host Inn at 6621 Midlothian Turnpike yesterday at 10:45 a.m. and arrived on scene at 10:48 a.m.

Investigators are searching for two men who were last seen running toward Warwick Road and may have gotten into a dark colored SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer or Ford Escape.

The first suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’9, weighing 180 pounds, possibly in his 30’s who was last seen wearing all black clothing.

The second suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’9, possibly in his 30’s who was last seen wearing blue jeans.

December Homicide Arrest

Richmond Police investigators have made an arrest in the December homicide of a local rap artist.

Michael R. Mitchell, 30, whose last known address was the 5700 block of Lorivilled Lane, was found shot to death at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2009, inside the Glenncroft Professional Building, 121 Wyck St.

First Precinct Officer Brandon Hill arrested Joseph M. Rodriguez Jr., 21, of the 3900 block of Bridgeton Road, during a routine traffic stop on Saturday. Rodriguez was served with the outstanding warrant for murder in connection with Mitchell’s death.

Pine Crest Avenue Homicide

At 10:19 p.m. Sunday, Richmond Police were called to investigate a shooting at 5005 Pine Crest Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found Christopher J. Mackin, 30 of that address, shot to death inside the residence.

Overlook Street Homicide

At approximately 8:48 p.m. Friday, Richmond Police were called to the 1400 block of Overlook Street for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found Christopher A. Johnson, 22, who’s last known address was the 6700 block of Elk Lane, dead in the street from a gunshot wound.

As a result of officers’ quick response and investigation, Brandon L. Spence, 24, of the 1400 block of Overlook Street, was identified as a suspect. He was arrested and charged with murder.

The motive for this homicide appears to be an argument between the pair, who knew each other.

Piney Road Homicide

At approximately 8:28 p.m. Friday, Richmond Police were called to 3934 Piney Road for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found William H. Bagley, Jr., 38, of the same address, suffering from a gunshot wound inside the home. He was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries early this morning.

His father, William H. Bagley, Sr., 60, also of the same address on Piney Road, was initially charged with aggravated malicious wounding, but the charges will be upgraded to murder.

The motive for the shooting appears to be an argument between the pair.

Oakwood Cemetery Homicide Update

The Richmond Police Department has identified the man found shot to death this morning in the Oakwood Cemetery as Tyree Jerard Jefferson Jr., 39, of the 400 block of East Brookland Park Boulevard.

Officers received a call at 9:50 a.m. for a report of a person down in the cemetery, 3001 Nine Mile Road. When they arrived, they found Jefferson dead at the scene.

27th Street Homicide

A Richmond man died today after being shot just after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10.

Richmond Police officers heard gunshots in the area of 27th Street and Nine Mile Road and responded within one minute. When they arrived that evening, they found Gavin D. Pollard, 26, of the 2000 block of Beck Drive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He is the city’s seventh homicide this year.

Have You Seen Oswaldo Ramirez?

Richmond Police need the public’s help in finding Oswaldo Ramirez in connection with the murder of Leoncio Deleon on Jan. 24.

After further investigation, detectives have determined Deleon, 43, was stabbed after an altercation with a known offender inside an apartment in the 4600 block of Southwood Parkway around 2 a.m. yesterday. He later died at VCU Medical Center.

Ramirez, 24, is described as 5’6” and weighing about 150 pounds. His last known address is the 1700 block of Clarkson Road. His photo is attached to this advisory.

He is wanted on a charge of first degree murder and failure to appear for court.
