Creighton Court Fatal Shooting Ruled as Justified

The Richmond Police Department, in consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, has ruled the fatal shooting of Alex Jackson in Creighton Court last month as justified.

At approximately 12:23 a.m., March 27, RPD officers were called to the 2100 block of Creighton Road for a report of a shooting. At that location, they discovered Jackson’s body lying on the ground outside a residence.

After a thorough and complete investigation, it was determined that the fatal shot was fired in self-defense. The adult male who shot Jackson will not be charged.

A second adult male, who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in the incident, has been released from the hospital.

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify the suspect in the photo and video (video sent separately) who is a suspect in a burglary that occurred last week.

At approximately 11:02 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, the suspect kicked in a door to a church located at 1022 N. 22nd St. and stole items.

The suspect is described as a black male who wore a light-colored t-shirt, camouflage shorts and high-top sneakers.

East Brookland Park Boulevard Homicide

The Richmond Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a man on the city’s north side.

Just after midnight this morning, officers were called to the 600 block of East Brookland Park Boulevard for a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found Rolan Angaroo, 29, of the 600 block of East Brookland Park Boulevard, inside a residence dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

Charges Placed in Fatal Collision

The Richmond Police Department has charged the driver involved in Monday’s fatal vehicle collision on Grove Avenue.

Robert S. Gentil, 32, of the 00-hundred block of East Lock Lane in Richmond has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

His photo will be released when it is available.

The investigation is continuing.

BACKGROUND:     RPD Colonel Alfred Durham will hold four Town Hall Meetings next week as part of his on-going effort to inform the public about his vision for policing in Richmond, outlined in The Plan – 100 Days of Focus.

"I intend to do more listening than speaking," said Chief Durham.  "The purpose of these Town Hall meetings is for me and my staff to get input from the general public; what we can do better and how they can help us to do better."

There will be one Town Hall Meeting in each of RPD’s four precincts:

Arrest Made in Gilpin Court Shooting Investigation

A Richmond man has been arrested for a shooting that occurred last Sunday afternoon in Gilpin Court.

Davon Parrish, 25, of the 200 block of W. Baker St., was arrested yesterday afternoon in Richmond by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. He was taken into custody without incident.

Parrish has been charged with Malicious Wounding and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. Other charges are pending.

The shooting occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m., April 12 in the 1100 block of St. John St. One victim, an adult male, suffered a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was treated at a local hospital.

Suspect Sought in Hit and Run

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify the suspect in the photo and video (video sent separately) who was involved in a hit and run last week.

At approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, a vehicle driven by the suspect was involved in a rear-end collision with a vehicle and a GRTC bus in the 1500 block of Leigh Street. The suspect left the vehicle before quickly returning to collect some belongings. The suspect then walked away from the scene of the accident on Leigh Street and turned southbound on Lombardy Street.

Injuries were reported from the two vehicles that were struck. The injuries are not considered life threatening.

The suspect is described as a black male in a white t-shirt, jeans and a cap. The striking vehicle was a red Toyota van. The van has been impounded and remains part of the investigation.
