Victim Identified in Midlothian Turnpike Homicide

Richmond Police Department detectives have identified the victim of a homicide that occurred last night on the city's south side.

At approximately 5:55 p.m., police were called to the intersection of East 32nd Street and Midlothian Turnpike for a report of a person shot. When police arrived, they found an adult male in a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. It is believed the shooting occurred in the 4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike.


The victim, Jarod Buford, 22, of Richmond Street, Petersburg, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death. Police are still investigating.
