The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim of yesterday’s fatal crash as Rakeem B. Bland, 30, of the 3800 block of Stockton Street.

At approximately 8:52 p.m. on Friday, February 14, officers responded to the 3000 block of Midlothian Turnpike for the report of a crash involving two vehicles.  Once on scene, police found Bland unresponsive.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives have determined a Nissan Kicks, driven by Anthoneya A. Hodges, 26, of the 6900 block of Marlowe Road, was traveling on Midlothian Turnpike.  The Kicks then ran a red light at the intersection of Broad Rock Boulevard and struck a GMC Suburban, which was being driven by Bland, causing the Suburban to flip onto its side.

Hodges was charged with Driving under the Influence, Suspended Operator’s License and Disregarding a Red Light.  Her booking photo is attached.  Additional charges are pending.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective G. Drago at (804) 646-1369.
