Richmond Police detectives have charged the suspect in the February homicide in Southside Plaza of Vidal Smith.
Detectives charged Marquise Whitaker, 20, of Richmond, with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting within an occupied building. His booking photo is attached.
At approximately 4:21 p.m., Saturday, February 26, officers were called to the 4700 block of Southside Plaza for the report of a shooting. RPD officers located a male, Smith, 25, of Richmond, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
