Fairfield Way Death Investigation

Today at approximately 12:04 p.m., a Richmond Police Department detective was in the parking lot of the Richmond Justice Center, located in the 1700 block of Fairfield Way, walking towards the building. The detective heard a gunshot nearby and investigated. In the parking lot near the roadway the detective found an adult male, down and unresponsive. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

A suspect was not located at the scene; however, officers and detectives took information from several persons who were nearby at the time of the shooting which can assist in developing a suspect. Detectives ask anyone who saw suspicious activity near the scene or along Fairfield Way to contact investigators.

The eastbound lanes of Fairfield Way were closed to accommodate the investigation and have re-opened.

Nelson Street Death Investigation

                                       

Today at approximately 5:54 p.m., officers were called to the 1200 block of Nelson Street for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found an adult male, inside of a residence down on the floor with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Detectives have determined that this shooting is domestic-related, and one person has been taken into custody. Detectives are not looking for anyone else. This investigation is on-going.

 

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
