Suspect Charged in Rosecrest Avenue Homicide Investigation

Following indictments from a grand jury, the suspect in the July 8 Rosecrest Avenue homicide investigation, in custody since August 7, has been charged.

Jayarie Baskerville-Griffin, 23, of Richmond, has been charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. His booking photo is attached.

At approximately 7:41 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, officers were called to the 1600 block of Rosecrest Avenue for a welfare check. Officers arrived and located an adult female, Teresa Jackson, 64, of Richmond, inside the residence, down and unresponsive. She had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
