Motorcyclist Identified in Fatal Collision on South Belvidere Street
Yesterday at approximately 3:59 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of South Belvidere and Spring streets for the collision of a motorcycle and an SUV. The rider of the motorcycle, Norton, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The adult male driver of the SUV was not injured and remained at the scene.
The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Members of the RPD Crash Team responded to the scene and are investigating. Investigators determined the rider of the motorcycle disregarded a red signal and attempted to turn left onto South Belvidere Street from Spring Street when the southbound SUV turned left from South Belvidere Street into the intersection of Spring Street where the vehicles collided.
At this time, no charges have been filed.
