The Richmond Police Department is advising motorists of an upcoming DUI checkpoint
scheduled
for Saturday, October 24, through early Sunday, October 25, on the 14th
Street
Bridge
(Mayo Bridge).
The checkpoint will operate from 8 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday as
part of RPD's
ongoing efforts to promote roadway safety and reduce impaired driving
throughout the
City of Richmond.
Motorists traveling through the area should anticipate a police presence
and possible
traffic delays during the checkpoint hours.
RPD reminds all drivers of the importance of making responsible
decisions before getting
behind the wheel. Those planning to consume alcohol are encouraged to
designate a
sober driver, utilize a rideshare service, or arrange alternative
transportation.
