Victims Identified in St. Paul Street Homicide, Death Investigation

Richmond Police detectives have identified the two males who died after they were shot in an incident on St. Paul Street last month as Tyreese Robinson, 30, of Richmond, and Terry Brown, Jr., 25, of Richmond.

Detectives are investigating the shootings which led to both individuals succumbing to their injuries at a local hospital. Detectives have determined Brown, Jr. shot Robinson, making Robinson the third homicide victim in Richmond in 2023. Immediately after Robinson was shot, Brown Jr. was shot and individuals who were present fled the area.

At approximately 3:10 p.m., Friday, January 27, Richmond Police officers responded to the 1300 block of St. Paul Street after hearing gunfire in the area. They located one adult male, Brown Jr., with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. A second adult male, Robinson, arrived at the hospital also suffering from a gunshot wound.

The investigation continues.

Victim Identified in South Kenmore Road Death Investigation Connected to Forest Hill Avenue Aggravated Assault

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the death investigation on South Kenmore Road last month as Jaden Carter, 18, of Richmond.

At approximately 5:54 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, officers were called to the 2100 block of South Kenmore Road for the report of a person shot. Officers located an adult male, Carter, who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Officers were then called to the 7400 block of Forest Hill Avenue for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with an injury that was considered life threatening.

Detectives believe these incidents are related. The investigation continues.

Arrest Made in 2022 Laurel Street Double Shooting

Richmond Police detectives, in coordination with the VCU Police Department and with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force, have arrested a suspect in the double shooting on South Laurel Street last September.

Anthony Ford, Jr., 29, of Richmond, was arrested this morning in Richmond without incident. He has been charged with attempted murder x2 and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. His booking photo is attached.

Ford and another unknown male were the subjects of an RPD advisory last October which showed video and still photos of the pair in an attempt to identify the suspects. The second male has not yet been identified and detectives are again asking for the public’s assistance to identify him. His photo is also attached.

At approximately 8:09 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2022, officers were called to the 200 block of South Laurel Street for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found two adult males who were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. They were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

Witnesses reported the unidentified male in the below photo assaulted a female at the scene followed by Ford, Jr. shooting the victims.

Victim Identified in Fatal Pedestrian Collision at Laurel and West Main Street

Victim Identified in Fatal Pedestrian Collision at Laurel and West Main Street

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the pedestrian collision that occurred Friday afternoon in the 800 Block of West Main Street, as 22-year-old Mahrokh Somia Khan.

Yesterday at approximately 8:57 a.m., officers were called to the 800 block of West Main Street and found an injured adult female, Khan, in the right travel lane of West Main Street. She was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.           

The RPD Crash Team responded to the scene and determined that Khan was attempting to cross the intersection of North Laurel and West Main Street when she was struck by the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. The RPD Crash Team continues to investigate this tragic incident.

Richmond Police detectives have made an arrest for the homicide of Xavier Brown that occurred on East Main Street in May of 2022.

Earlier this month, Jakwon Taylor, 26, of Richmond, was indicted in connection with the murder of Brown. Taylor has been charged with murder, attempted robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony x2 and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His booking photo is attached.

“This investigation is an excellent example of the determination of our homicide detectives and a great lesson in the uses of technology to advance public safety,” said Interim Chief Rick Edwards. “Detectives diligently worked through the months and continued to search for video sources to help identify the suspect. At approximately 2:10 a.m., Saturday, May 21, officers were called to the 1500 block of East Main Street for the report of a person down. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Xavier Brown, 23, of Richmond, down and unresponsive in a parking lot. He had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suspect Charged in 2021 Incidents of Assault, Homicide on Bus

Richmond Police detectives have charged the suspect involved in two separate violent incidents, including a homicide, on GRTC buses in 2021.

Dexter Superville, Jr., 24, of Richmond, was sought for an assault on October 11, 2021 and a homicide on November 9, 2021.

Detectives, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, located Superville, Jr. in New York State earlier this month and he was taken into custody by Marshals. He was transported to Richmond and has been charged with first degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, malicious wounding, strangulation and simple assault. Richmond Police Department detectives have identified the victim in the homicide on Maury Street on Tuesday as Tegene Birke, 56, of Richmond.

At approximately 12:55 p.m., officers were called to the 3400 block of Maury Street for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found an adult male down and unresponsive in a parking lot. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
