Missing Woman, Last Seen on Bridge, Sought

 

The Richmond Police Department is asking the public for information about a local woman who has been reported missing.

 

On Saturday, February 8, at approximately 8:18 p.m., RPD units responded to the Lee Bridge for the report of a suspicious situation. The caller stated that a black female wearing a black tracksuit, knit hat, and glasses was standing near the railing of the bridge.

 

During the initial investigation by the Richmond Police Department, the vehicle that was parked on the bridge was found to be registered to Mareesa Jones, 59, of Henrico. Jones is described as being approximately 5’9” tall and weighing about 200 pounds. Her photo is attached.

 

Since the report of the incident The Richmond Police Department, The Richmond Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team, and the Metro Aviation Unit have utilized resources to attempt to locate Jones which included searching the James River and surrounding areas.

 

Friends of Jones are concerned for her safety. Detectives will continue to investigate but urge concerned individuals not to search in and around the James River, which is at flood stage with dangerous debris.

Arrests Made in St. James Street Homicide

Richmond Police detectives, with assistance of the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force, have made two arrests in the homicide that occurred in January on St. James Street.

Detectives arrested Trayrell Tolliver, 27, of Richmond, on February 7 and Darius Burgess, 23, of Petersburg, on February 10. Both have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Additional charges are pending. Their booking photos are attached.

At approximately 5:05 p.m. on Monday, January 27, officers were called to the 1000 block of St. James Street for the report of shooting. Officers arrived and located an adult male, Toney Garrett, 23, of Richmond, down and unresponsive on the grass between buildings. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Victim Identified in Decatur Street Homicide Investigation

 

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the homicide on Decatur Street last week as Lonzo Harris, Jr., 35, of Chesterfield.

 

At approximately 11:36 p.m., Thursday, February 6, officers were called to the 3300 block of Decatur Street for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male, Harris, Jr., down and unresponsive inside the residence. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene.
