Arrest Made in Mechanicsville Turnpike Shooting

Detectives with the Richmond Police Department, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force, have made an arrest in relation to a shooting that occurred this month on Mechanicsville Turnpike.

At approximately 7:16 p.m., on Thursday, February 13, officers were called to a convenience store in the 1600 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found an adult male in the store who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound from a shooting that had occurred just outside the store. He was transported to a local hospital with an injury that was considered life threatening.

Detectives arrested Deangelo Hunt, 38, of the 3800 block of Howard Road and charged him with attempted murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His booking photo is attached.

Arrests Made in West Charity Street Homicide

Detectives with the Richmond Police Department have made two arrests in relation to last week’s homicide in Gilpin Court of Katrez T. Bryant, 18, of the 1000 block of St. Peter Street.

At approximately 5:40 p.m., on Monday, February 17, officers on patrol heard several gunshots. They responded to the scene and quickly located Bryant, lying on the second floor landing of an apartment building in the 200 block of West Charity Street. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries that same evening.

Detectives arrested Melvin M. Davis, 26, of the 3400 block of Enslow Avenue and Kahlil J. Pryor, 24, of the 2200 block of North 25^th Street and have charged each with conspiracy to commit murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Their booking photos are attached.

Fatal Shootings on Jefferson Davis Highway

The Richmond Police Department is investigating an incident where two males were fatally shot this morning on Jefferson Davis Highway.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., a random gunfire call was received from the 1500 block of Jefferson Davis Highway, followed closely by a call of a person down. Officers arrived and found two adult males in a parking lot of an apartment building, down and unresponsive. They had each suffered an apparent gunshot wound and were pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

The location of these death investigations, off the northbound lanes of Jefferson Davis Highway in front of a small apartment building, is in the Bellemeade section of the roadway near some industrial businesses. Major Crimes detectives are asking anyone who may have been driving in this area in the early morning hours to contact detectives if they saw anything that could have been related to these shootings.

Suspect Sought in Pink Street Package Theft

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify the suspect in a package theft that occurred on Pink Street last week. 

Sometime between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday, February 10 an unknown man was seen on a security camera stealing a package from the porch of a home in the 900 block of Pink Street. He then runs away on foot.

Pedestrian struck in a Hit & Run Crash on Magnolia Street in north Richmond

The Richmond Police Department’s Special Operations Division-Traffic Crash Team is investigating a Hit & Run crash that occurred in the late evening yesterday in the City’s Northside.

On Thursday evening, February 20, 2020, between 8:50 p.m. and 9:10 p.m., an unidentified vehicle traveling east in the 2200 block of Magnolia Street struck and seriously injured a male pedestrian wearing a yellow and white coat who was walking along Magnolia Street.

The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene without stopping to render aid with the last known direction of travel as heading east on Magnolia Street towards Mechanicsville Turnpike.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in life-threatening condition.

Two Arrested – One Sought in Gilpin Court Rape

The Richmond Police Department has arrested two suspects and is looking for a third for a rape and abduction that occurred in Gilpin Court earlier this year.

Currently in custody are:

·       Herbert E. Smith, Jr., 19, of the 1100 block of North 2^nd Street – arrested 1/28/20

·       Zekhaire A. Robinson, 20, of the 1700 block of Carlisle Avenue – arrested 2/16/20

Both men have both been charged with rape and abduction in connection with a sexual assault on an adult female in an apartment in Gilpin Court on January 25^th.

A third suspect, Shaquan H. Hill, 21, of the 1100 block of North 2^nd Street, is still being sought. Smith is described as a black male, 5’ 6” and 170 pounds.

Victim Identified in West Charity Street Homicide

The Richmond Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred yesterday in Gilpin Court.

At approximately 5:40 p.m., Monday, February 17, RPD officers on patrol heard several gunshots. They responded to the scene and quickly located the victim, lying on the second floor landing of an apartment building in the 200 block of West Charity Street. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 6:21 p.m.

The victim has been identified as Katrez T. Bryant, 18, of the 1000 block of St. Peter Street.

Shortly after the shooting, another victim, a juvenile male, arrived by personal vehicle at a local hospital. He suffered life-threatening gunshot injuries.
