Missing Man Found

A missing man who was reported as possibly being in the Richmond area has been found and is safe.

Tristan Wright, 32, was found by a First Precinct officer this morning in the Mechanicsville Turnpike area. He was reported missing from New Jersey and authorities there believed he may have been in the Richmond area, possibly near the Greyhound Bus terminal on North Arthur Ashe Boulevard.

Detectives wish to thank the media for their coverage and thank the public for the many tips and calls they provided which assisted in locating Wright.

Missing Man, Possibly in Richmond, Sought

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing man who may be in Richmond.

Tristan Wright, 32, is missing from New Jersey and authorities there believe he may be in the Richmond area, possibly near the Greyhound Bus terminal on North Arthur Ashe Boulevard. His photo is attached.

 

Wright suffers from a medical condition and is non-verbal so there is a concern for his safety. He is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs about 250 pounds.

Suspect Sought in Chamberlayne Avenue Stabbing

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to locate Nathaniel Marks, the suspect in a stabbing that occurred last week. His photo is attached.

At approximately 8:55 p.m., on Tuesday, October 20, officers were called to the 2600 block of Chamberlayne Avenue for the report of a stabbing. An injured adult male was located and transported to a local hospital with an injury that was not considered life threatening.

Detectives have obtained a warrant for malicious wounding for Marks.

Two Suspects Indicted for 2018 Melmark Court Murder

The Richmond Police Department has obtained indictments for two suspects in connection with a homicide that occurred on Melmark Court two years ago.

On October 7, 2020, a grand jury indicted both Jovonta E. Rony and Javante Staten for first-degree murder in the death of Rolando D. Williams, Jr.

Rony’s booking photo is attached. Staten is currently incarcerated at the Powhatan Correctional Center, where he will be served with his indictment. A former booking photo of Staten is attached.

At approximately 12:46 p.m. on October 22, 2018, officers responded to the 400 block of Melmark Court for the report of a person shot. Once on scene, they found Williams with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

This case was assigned to former Major Crimes Detective R. Wigfall, who is now part of a different unit within the Richmond Police Department.

“Detective Wigfall continues to work on his open Major Crimes cases. His perseverance and dedication over the past two years led to this significant development and hopefully justice for the family of Mr. Williams,” said Major Crimes Captain James Laino.

RPD, Victim’s Family Seeking Information on March Homicide

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to solve a homicide that occurred on Creighton Road earlier this year.

At approximately 11:53 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020, officers on foot patrol heard gunfire. Shortly after, they found Keandre N. Robinson down by a vehicle in the 2200 block of Creighton Road.  He had multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Keandre Robinson was a beloved son, brother, and father of two,” said Major Crimes Detective Benjamin Neifeld. “We know someone out there has information to help us solve this case and provide his family with some closure. We need them to come forward.”

Robinson’s family has provided the following statement and the attached photo of him.

“A link in our family chain has been forever broken. Our hearts and minds will never be able to heal knowing that our loved one's murder is going unsolved and without justice. We are asking anyone with any information or any leads to please come forward, so justice can be done for our brother, Keandre.”

Man Indicted for Homicide of Child

A male who had been charged with abuse and neglect of a child in connection with a death investigation last year has now been indicted for murder by a grand jury.

Isaiah Nipson was indicted following the death of his daughter, a toddler in his care, in 2019. His booking photo is attached.

At approximately 11:31 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, officers were called to the 1300 block of Coalter Street for the report of a child in distress. Officers arrived and found the unresponsive child. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Youth and Family Crimes division have been investigating the incident and presented information to the grand jury, which resulted in the indictment of Nipson on October 21 for charges which include murder, abuse and assault.

Four Charged in Unrest in the City of Richmond

On Tuesday night a group of individuals walked through Richmond, eventually damaging vehicles and buildings in several areas in the city and causing unrest. Four were arrested.

After leaving Monroe Park, the group headed west along West Main Street. At approximately 9:54 p.m., individuals in the group were observed throwing objects at patrons at a restaurant. Soon after, officers observed an individual throw a large stone and damage an RPD K-9 vehicle. A photo of the stone that was recovered is attached. Later, that same individual was seen throwing an object against a business. As officers moved to arrest this individual, a group member assaulted an officer.

Unlawful assembly was not declared and no chemical agents were deployed.

The Department consulted with the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney on possible charges and charged four individuals. Their photos are attached.

Paxton Chapman was charged with obstruction of justice, carrying a concealed weapon and pedestrian in the roadway.

Saraswati Rowe was charged with obstructing free passage.

Harrison Sellers was charged with inciting a riot and throwing a missile at an occupied vehicle.

Michael Toney was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer.
