Three Charged with Montvale Avenue Homicide and Aggravated Assault

Richmond Police detectives have charged three suspects in connection with the April homicide and aggravated assault on Montvale Avenue.

Juhwaan Barnes, 19, of Richmond has been charged with murder, malicious wounding and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. 

Kevon Bynum, 19, of Richmond has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, murder, malicious wounding and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. 

Justin Oliver, 18, of Richmond has been charged with murder, malicious wounding and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

At approximately 4:28 a.m. on April 7, officers were called to the 500 block of Montvale Avenue for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and located the victim, Vinshaun Johnson, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound unresponsive in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second victim, a juvenile male in his late teens, also suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital with an injury that was not considered life threatening.
