Chief of Police Statement on City Budget Approval Including First Responder Pay Increase

The Richmond Police Department thanks Mayor Levar M. Stoney and Richmond City Council for their collaborative efforts to approve a 2022-23 fiscal year budget that includes historic pay increases for our police officers and firefighters as well as a pay increase of at least 5 percent for all City of Richmond employees.

I also would like to commend the Public Safety Pay Plan Committee, comprised of police officers and firefighters who worked together to represent the interest of all our employees, for their contributions to this budget process.

The impact this budget will have on the work life and the personal lives of our employees will be felt in a positive way for years to come. For that, again, we say thank you.
