The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim of
a homicide that happened Saturday morning at Southwood Apartments.
At approximately 3:25 a.m. on November 28, an officer on
patrol was flagged down by a person who reported hearing a gunshot fired in the
apartment complex. The officer quickly found the body of Misael E. Maldonado
Garcia, 30, of the 4600 block of Southwood Parkway, lying in a drainage
ditch in the near the entrance to the apartment complex. He died of an apparent
gunshot wound.
Detectives are actively working all available leads and
continue to gather additional information as part of the ongoing investigation.
