Victim Identified in T Street Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the shooting on T Street yesterday as Keith Turner, 66, of Richmond.

At approximately 5:11 p.m., officers were called to the 1800 block of T Street for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male, Turner, down and unresponsive on the sidewalk. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital where yesterday he succumbed to his injury.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are examining evidence and video from nearby security cameras as they continue this investigation.

He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injury.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

2023 Richmond Marathon Closures and No Parking

The 2023 Richmond Marathon is just days away. Runners will take to city streets on Saturday, November 11. There will be numerous “No Parking” zones and street closures in effect as a result.

The Richmond Police Department is asking motorists and pedestrians to be aware of the many roads that will be closed across the city to accommodate the marathon. Vehicles parked along the race course will be towed to accommodate the event starting at 9 p.m., Friday, November 10.

 

Please be aware of signs restricting parking and detours throughout the city starting at 10 a.m., Friday, November 10 and continuing through 7 p.m., Saturday, November 11.

Driver and Vehicle Sought in Hit and Run

Driver and Vehicle Sought in Hit and Run

Richmond Police Hit and Run investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver or the vehicle that was involved in a hit and run last month that was captured on the victim’s dash cam.

At approximately 8:47 p.m. on Friday, October 13, officers were called to the intersection of Nansemond and Ellwood streets for the report of a hit and run.

The victim was operating his vehicle southbound on Nansemond Street and slowed to stop for pedestrians entering a crosswalk to cross Nansemond Street. The suspect vehicle was northbound in the intersection waiting for opposing traffic to clear to complete a left turn onto Ellwood Street.

When the victim stopped his vehicle for the pedestrians, the suspect made the left turn, striking and damaging the victim’s vehicle in the intersection. The damage included the rear bumper being torn off the car. No injuries were reported.

Investigators are seeking information on the vehicle, possibly a silver sedan, last seen traveling westbound on Ellwood Street. The sedan will have damage to the front left and left side of the vehicle.
