Person of Interest/Truck Sought in Castlewood Road Homicide

 

Richmond Police detectives are asking the public’s assistance in identifying the male or the trucking company vehicle in the photos. Detectives are investigating the possible connection of the male and the truck in the homicide of Darryl Talley on Castlewood Road earlier this month.

On Monday, June 5, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Second Precinct patrol officers investigated a suspicious vehicle parked in the 3800 block of Castlewood Road and discovered an adult male, Talley, in the vehicle. He had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Major Crimes detectives have determined Talley was shot around 4 a.m. on Saturday, June 3 and are investigating the possible connection of the male in the photos to the homicide. Identifying the white tractor-trailer cab that was near the scene of the homicide could also lead detectives to important information about this shooting. The trucking company’s name is painted on the cab’s doors. A photo of the name on the cab door is also attached.

Motorbike Rider Identified in Fatal Collision

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team has identified the driver of the dirt bike in the fatal collision on East Broad Street Friday night as Jamaal Russell, 27, of Richmond.

At approximately 8:19 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of East Broad and North 7th streets for the report of a collision between a dirt bike and a GRTC bus.

Officers arrived and found an injured adult male, Russell, the sole occupant of the dirt bike, down in the roadway. He was transported to a local hospital where, Friday night, he succumbed to his injury.

The bus driver halted the bus at the scene following the collision. There were no injuries on the bus.

The RPD Crash Team responded. Investigators determined the collision occurred when the bus, operating eastbound, made a left turn onto North 7th Street. Russell, operating the dirt bike westbound on East Broad Street, collided into the side of the bus. Investigators also determined the dirt bike was not legally permitted to operate on the roadways. At this time, investigators have not filed charges in this case.

Victim Identified in Mansion Avenue Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim of the homicide on Thursday on Mansion Avenue as Willie Green, Jr., 65, of Richmond.

At approximately 7:41 a.m., Thursday, June 22, Richmond Police officers were called to the 2000 block of Mansion Avenue for the report of a person down. Officers arrived and located an adult male, Green, Jr., down and unresponsive in an alley. He had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Victim Identified in Midlothian Turnpike Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in an apartment on Midlothian Turnpike on Sunday as Jazshawn Hickman, 26, of Richmond.

On Sunday at approximately 10:34 p.m., officers were called to the 4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Hickman, in an apartment. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital with an injury that was considered life threatening. He succumbed to his injury later that night.

Detectives with the Major Crimes unit are investigating.

Indictment in Midlothian Turnpike Homicide

The suspect in the Midlothian Turnpike homicide of Marcus Dobson that occurred in April has been indicted. Travaris Williams, 36, of Richmond, was indicted on June 5 and has been charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. His booking photo is attached.

At approximately 9:08 p.m. on April 27, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male, Dobson, down and unresponsive in the grass area near a parking lot, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where that night he succumbed to his injury.

Major Crimes detectives have been investigating this homicide and arrested Williams on May 19.

Male Involved in Pursuit from Henrico County Identified

Richmond Police detectives have identified the male who shot himself today following crimes in Northern Virginia and a pursuit from Henrico County as Dana Paul Roman, 45, of Richmond.

At approximately 8:56 a.m., Henrico County Police attempted a traffic stop of Roman in the area of Laburnum Avenue and Interstate 64. Roman was wanted in connection to several crimes in Fairfax and Henrico counties. The pursuit entered Richmond and ended with a collision between Roman’s vehicle and a Henrico County Police vehicle on Glenwood Avenue. Roman fled on foot. Near North 35th and East Marshall streets, he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives with the Richmond Police Department Major Crimes unit are investigating the shooting.

Juvenile Charged in Assaults and Robberies Recorded on Video

Richmond Police detectives have charged a juvenile male, 17, of Richmond, for a recent incident of assaults and robberies that were recorded on video.

Last month, disturbing video was circulated on social media showing juvenile males threatening other young males with a firearm and emotionally assaulting them. This incident was not reported to RPD but, once the department was made aware of the incident, First Precinct detectives investigated with assistance of the Strategic Violence Interdiction Unit (SVIU).

The juvenile has been charged with robbery x2, abduction x2, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony x4 and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

“The behavior seen was deeply shocking and disturbing,” said Interim Chief Rick Edwards. “I thank First Precinct detectives and the SVIU team for quickly identifying and charging this suspect. While that is important, providing support is also critical. When we first viewed the video we promised to offer resources and assistance to the young men and their families – and we have offered support throughout this process.”

The investigation continues.

Indictment in Hospital Homicide Investigation

The suspect in the May homicide that occurred in VCU Medical Center has been indicted. Christopher Boisseau, 24, of Henrico, has now been charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He remains charged with maliciously discharging a firearm in an occupied building. His booking photo is attached.

At approximately 12:04 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, officers from the Richmond Police Department and the VCU Police Department received an emergency call about shots fired and an active threat inside the VCU Medical Center North Hospital, located at 1300 East Marshall Street. VCU and Richmond police responded immediately to the scene.

Officers determined an altercation between two co-workers in a stairwell resulted in one of the individuals shooting the other. The victim, Ty’Quan White, 25, of Richmond, received treatment but succumbed to his injury.

There were no other injuries.

Yesterday, at approximately 10:43 p.m., RPD officers responded to the 1200 block of North 19th Street for the report of a shooting. Once on scene officers located two juvenile males suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Both individuals were self-transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident is currently under investigation.

Yesterday, at approximately 8:13 p.m., RPD officers responded to the 1900 block of R Street for the report of a shooting. Once on scene officers located a juvenile male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Arrest Made, Victims Identified in Monroe Park Shooting

Richmond Police Department Interim Chief Rick Edwards today held a briefing on the shooting that occurred yesterday in Monroe Park, announcing an arrest and identifying the two victims who have succumbed to their injuries.

Amari Pollard, 19, of Henrico County, was arrested at the scene without incident. He has been charged with second degree murder x2. His booking photo is attached.

Seven individuals were shot during the incident. Shawn Jackson, 18, and Renzo Smith, 36, both of Chesterfield County, were transported to a local hospital where last night they died. Smith is Jackson’s step-father.

The injuries to the five other individuals are not considered life threatening.

Detectives have determined the shootings were not a random act but resulted from an ongoing dispute between Pollard and Jackson.

Multiple Shootings in Monroe Park

(Richmond, VA)— Today, at approximately 5:13 p.m., Officers of the Richmond Police Department working off duty at the Huguenot High School graduation responded when gunfire was heard in Monroe Park at North Laurel and West Main Streets. Multiple RPD units responded with VCU Police to assist on the scene. Officers located seven individuals who had suffered gunshot wounds. Five of the shooting victims were transported by ambulance and two were self-transported to area hospitals.

Two adult males, ages 18 and 36, succumbed to their injuries. One sustained a life-threatening injury and four sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Other injuries include:

One juvenile was struck by a vehicle and was treated on scene and later transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

Two individuals were treated for falls.

Nine individuals were treated for anxiety and minor injuries at the scene.

Two individuals were taken into custody. After consulting with the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney one of the individuals detained will be charged with 2nd Degree murder (x2).
