Missing Male Sought

The Richmond Police Department is asking the public’s assistance to help locate a missing man.

Richard Gregory, 59, missing from the 5600 block of Melmark Road, is a black male, 5’10” tall and 170 pounds. He has a salt-and-pepper beard.

Gregory was last seen wearing a black kangol hat, grey sweatpants, white shirt and blue jeans.

Gregory has a medical condition and may be in a confused state.

Two Juveniles Still Sought for Killing Cat

Richmond Police officers are again asking for the public’s help to identify two juveniles who intentionally allowed their dogs to kill a family’s cat. They can be seen in the below enhanced photos.

At approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, three juveniles were seen entering a yard that was not theirs in the 2100 block of Selden Street and intentionally provoking their dogs to attack and kill a cat.

One 14-year-old male juvenile was arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty on Friday.

Three Juveniles Sought for Killing Cat

Richmond Police officers are asking for the public’s help to identify three juveniles who intentionally allowed their dogs to kill a family’s cat.

At approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, the three juveniles were seen entering a yard that was not theirs in the 2100 block of Selden Street and intentionally provoking their dogs to attack and kill a cat.

The boys, who could face charges of animal cruelty among others, can be seen in the attached photos.

Richmond Police Graduates 109th Basic Recruit Class

BACKGROUND:     Chief Ray J. Tarasovic and the Richmond Police Department are proud to welcome 28 new officers to the force and invite the public to their graduation and swearing-in ceremony tomorrow.

                                    Hopewell Police Chief John Keohane, who retired from Richmond Police after nearly 30 years of service as a major and former Training Academy sergeant, will give the keynote address.

The diverse recruit class includes individuals from Egypt, Ukraine, Puerto Rico as well as officers from other police agencies. After 30 weeks of training at the Department’s Academy, the 109th Basic Recruit Class will immediately begin patrols, each assigned to a field training officer for the next eight weeks.

Pair Arrested for 47 Crimes

Thanks to detailed investigative work, a pair of juveniles have been arrested and charged in connection with 47 car break-ins in the Carver and Downtown neighborhoods.

In every single case, the car was either left unlocked or the windows were rolled down.

After the two 14-year-old males were identified as possible suspects, Fourth Precinct Detective Mark Godwin interviewed them, recovered several stolen items and determined that they had broken into 47 vehicles in the past 90 days.

Overall, the juveniles were charged with 36 felonies and 11 misdemeanors. Specifically, one juvenile was charged with 28 felonies and 9 misdemeanors while the other one was charged with eight felonies and two misdemeanors.


The Richmond Police Department would like to thank this detective for his hard work and remind the public to please, lock your vehicles and do not leave any items in plain view.

Restaurant Robber Sought

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to identify a man who robbed a restaurant on the city’s Southside yesterday afternoon.

He can be seen in the surveillance video (seen on our Facebook page) walking in front of the store before covering his face.

At approximately 2 p.m. Monday, an unknown male walked into the China Garden at 1800 Broad Rock Blvd. and robbed the business at gunpoint. He was last seen running away from the area.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’10” with a medium build who was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black pants.

Arrest Made in Midlothian Turnpike Homicide

Within 24 hours of Saturday’s homicide, Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim and made an arrest in the case.

At approximately 11:34 p.m. Saturday, officers received a call for a person shot in the 6300 block of Midlothian Turnpike. Officers arrived on scene within a minute and found Chong Kyu Han, 58, of the 8300 block of Houghton Place in Chesterfield County, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

On Sunday, detectives identified and arrested a person of interest--Arthur  L. Moore, 27, of the 900 block of North 30th Street—and charged him with conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His mugshot is below.

The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives believe robbery was the motive for this crime.

Midlothian Turnpike Homicide

Richmond Police detectives are in the early stages of a homicide investigation on the city's Southside. 

At approximately 11:34 p.m. Saturday, officers received a call for a person shot in the 6300 block of Midlothian Turnpike

Officers arrived on scene within a minute and found an adult male who was apparently shot.  He died at the scene. 

Detectives are currently canvassing the area, speaking with witnesses and gathering evidence.

Missing Woman Sought

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate a woman who has been missing for three weeks.

Gail Louise Shelton, 45, of the 3600 block of Chamberlayne Avenue, was last seen in that area on July 15. Neither her family nor neighbors have seen her or been able to contact her since then.

She was last seen wearing jeans, a Washington Redskins shirt and a baseball cap. She does walk with a limp and needs daily insulin shots. Her photo is below and attached.

Cigarette Thief Sought

Richmond Police and Chesterfield County Police detectives need the public’s help to identify a man who has committed four burglaries, all to steal cartons of Newport cigarettes. He can be seen in the attached surveillance images.

In the city, he is believed to have committed these crimes:
*At approximately 4:30 a.m. on July 19, an unknown male broke into the 48 Hour convenience store at 5091 Forest Hill Ave. and stole several cartons of Newport cigarettes,
*At approximately 5 a.m. on July 31, an unknown male broke into the Food Lion at 6409 Jahnke Road and stole more than a dozen cartons of Newport cigarettes,
*At approximately 1 a.m. on Aug. 2, an unknown male broke into the same Food Lion again and stole numerous packs of Newport cigarettes.

The same man is suspected of burglarizing the Food Lion at 8006 Buford Court in Chesterfield County within minutes of the Aug. 2 burglary in Richmond. He stole several cartons of Newport cigarettes from the Chesterfield County store.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as an older-model, green, four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry or Corolla, with a defective right front headlight.

Pair Sought in Credit Card Thefts

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to find two people suspected of stealing credit cards from a gym in the Fan.

Christopher Ramont Gillus, 28, whose last known address is the 3200 block of Olive Avenue is 6’6” and weighs approximately 190 pounds. His picture is below.

He may be in the company of Kelly Lauren Muncy, 29, whose last known address is the 9600 block of Snowhill Road, is 5’1” and weighs approximately 145 pounds. Her picture is below.
                                                                       
Both are suspects in at least three thefts from the Gold’s Gym at 8 S. Harvie St. as well as related thefts from motor vehicles at the same location. They are wanted on charges of credit card theft and fraud. The pair is also suspected in similar thefts at gyms in Henrico County and Hanover County.

Victim Identified in East 36th Street Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim of last night’s homicide as Joseph Lee Sydnor, 55, of the 15,000 block of Sand Wave Road in Chester.

At approximately 10:17 p.m. Thursday, officers received a call for a shooting in the 700 block of East 36th Street. Officers arrived and found Sydnor on the street between Stockton Street and East Broad Rock Road, suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to VCU Medical Center where he died.

Person of Interest Sought in Robbery

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to find and identify a person of interest in connection with an armed robbery in the city’s East End.

At approximately 10:55 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, a woman was walking in the 800 block of North 30th Street when an unknown male robbed her at gunpoint.

After further investigation, detectives have identified a person of interest shown in the attached surveillance photos.

East 36th Street Homicide

Richmond Police detectives are in the early stages of a homicide investigation on the city’s Southside this morning.

At approximately 10:17 p.m. last night, officers received a call for a shooting in the 700 block of East 36th Street. Officers arrived and found a male, in his 50’s, on the street between Stockton Street and East Broad Rock Road, suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to VCU Medical Center where he died.

Detectives are working to develop an identity of the victim and a suspect description.
