Richmond Police Graduates 109th Basic Recruit Class

WHAT:                       Richmond Police 109th Basic Recruit Class Graduation

WHEN:                      10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014

WHERE:                    Cheek Theater, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 200 N. Boulevard

BACKGROUND:     Chief Ray J. Tarasovic and the Richmond Police Department are proud to welcome 28 new officers to the force and invite the public to their graduation and swearing-in ceremony tomorrow.

                                    Hopewell Police Chief John Keohane, who retired from Richmond Police after nearly 30 years of service as a major and former Training Academy sergeant, will give the keynote address.

The diverse recruit class includes individuals from Egypt, Ukraine, Puerto Rico as well as officers from other police agencies. After 30 weeks of training at the Department’s Academy, the 109th Basic Recruit Class will immediately begin patrols, each assigned to a field training officer for the next eight weeks.
