Victim Identified in West Broad Street Homicide and Aggravated Assaults Investigation

  Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the homicide that occurred                                     Saturday on West Broad Street as Robert Allen, 36, of Prince George.                                      

Saturday, July 20, 2024, at approximately 11:29 p.m., officers were called to the 00 block of West Broad Street for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found three adult males down on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds.

Two males were transported to a local hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening. The third male, Allen, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced dead. 

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Victim Identified in North 28th Street Homicide Investigation

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the homicide that occurred yesterday on North 28th Street as Delantel Plummer, 41, of Henrico.

Yesterday at approximately 5:07 p.m., officers were called to the 1700 block of North 28th Street for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Plummer, down on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Missing Juvenile Found Safe 

Major Crimes detectives worked tirelessly over the week since Asiah Mosby, 14, of Richmond was reported missing by her family. 

Detectives followed up on a tip that led them to an apartment complex located in south Richmond. She was found in the 900 block of St. John’s Wood Drive safe and unharmed. She has been reunited with her family. 

The Richmond Police Department thanks the community for their assistance in helping us locate Mosby and getting her home safely.

Victim Identified in German School Road Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the homicide that occurred Sunday morning on German School Road as George Phillips, Jr., 56, of Powhatan.

At approximately 6:50 a.m., July 14, officers were called to the 1000 block of German School Road for the report of a person down. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Philips, Jr., down in the roadway. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

 The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a Richmond juvenile who has been reported missing by her family.

Asiah Mosby, 14, was last seen on Monday, July 15 at approximately 4:00 p.m., in the 2100 block of Mandalay Road. Mosby was last seen wearing a black shirt, black Nike shoes, and a black backpack.

Mosby has black and brown hair and brown eyes. Her photo is attached.

WHAT:             Public Safety Mid-Year Briefing to the Community and Public Safety Partnership Update

 

WHEN:              1 p.m., TOMORROW, Thursday, July 11, 2024 

 

WHERE:           The briefing location is at RPD Headquarters, 200 W. Grace St.

 

Chief of Police Rick Edwards will address statistics from crimes that occurred in the first half of 2024 that impacted the public. Following the data, the department will share an update from the Public Safety Partnership. PSP serves as a U.S. Department of Justice program that enables participating sites to consult with and receive expedited, coordinated training and technical assistance and an array of resources from DOJ to enhance local public safety strategies. PSP also is assisting RPD in preparing a Strategic Plan for public safety in Richmond.

 

BACKGROUND:    

This crime briefing will inform the community of crime trends impacting public safety, provide an update on Operation Safe Summer, a multi-jurisdictional operation, share information on recent arrests, and offer opportunities for members of the public to engage in upcoming community events to participate in a joint effort to reduce crime.

Person of Interest Sought in Burglary of Convenience Store

Richmond Police detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual in these photos who is a person of interest in a burglary of a convenience store.

At approximately 4:15 a.m., on Monday, June 24, an unknown male smashed a front window of a convenience store, located in the 00 block of North 8th Street. He entered the store and stole tobacco and other products, exited the store and fled the area on foot.

Fourth Precinct detectives have released photos of an individual who waited outside the store during the burglary. He is pictured with a bicycle and also while wearing a blue shirt at a different location.

Pedestrian Identified in Fatal Collision on Snead Road

Richmond Police Crash Team investigators have identified the pedestrian involved in the fatal hit and run on Saturday on Snead Road as Rashik Cousins, 31, of Richmond.

At approximately 2:27 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, officers were called to the 4900 block of Snead Road for the report of two pedestrians struck by a vehicle. Officers arrived and located an adult male and an adult female who had been struck by a passing vehicle while they were walking on the side of the roadway.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The female victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

The RPD Crash Team responded and is conducting the investigation.

 Two Persons of Interest Sought in Commercial Burglary

Richmond Police detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals in these photos who are persons of interest in a commercial burglary.

First Precinct detectives are investigating a commercial burglary that occurred at a restaurant last week in the 1800 block of East Main Street.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., Monday, June 24, a male entered a local business and stole several bottles of liquor and other items and then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

At approximately 3:49 a.m., the same suspect returned with another individual, and they both stole bottles of liquor and other items and then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Suspects Sought for Using Stolen Vehicle in Attempted B&E

Fourth Precinct detectives are asking for the public’s assistance to identify three suspects who used a stolen vehicle in an attempted breaking and entering of a business.

This morning at approximately 12:43 a.m., officers were called to the 00 block of North 8th Street for the report of a crash with property damage. Officers arrived and found a Honda Accord at the scene which had collided with the front of a business. There were no individuals at the scene.

Fourth Precinct detectives are investigating and have determined the vehicle that was recovered at the scene had been stolen from a nearby state. One unknown suspect drove the vehicle into the front of the shop several times in an attempt to break in. The two other suspects attempted to gain entry but after they were unsuccessful all three fled the area on foot.

Two Arrested, Charged in Hampton Street Homicide

Two Arrested, Charged in Hampton Street Homicide

Richmond Police detectives, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force and the National Park Police, have arrested an adult female and an adult male in connection with the homicide that occurred on Hampton Street last month.

Lavena Brown, 51 of Chesterfield, was arrested without incident with the assistance of the Task Force. Daquan Brunson, 25, of Richmond, was arrested by the National Park Police in Yorktown. Their booking photos are attached.

They have both been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, carjacking, use of a firearm in the commission of a murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a carjacking. Brunson has also been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

At approximately 6:24 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, officers were called to the 1300 block of Hampton Street for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Wilson Negron, Jr., 46, of Henrico, down and injured on the ground. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injury shortly thereafter.

Detectives with the Major Crimes unit would like to thank those individuals at the scene who provided medical assistance to Negron, Jr., before emergency personnel arrived.
