The Richmond Police Department’s Crash Team investigators have identified the person who succumbed to his injuries in a motorcycle fatality that occurred earlier this month.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10, a
motorcyclist, identified as Wayne A. Walters Jr. of the 1800 block of Joplin
Street, was traveling west on Hull Street at a high rate of speed. Walters
Jr. lost control of the motorcycle when trying to avoid striking an SUV
that was traveling east on Hull Street. The SUV struck the motorcyclist when
the driver made a left turn into a shopping center. Walters Jr. was
pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators with the RPD
Special Operations Division-Traffic Crash Team responded to the scene where
they interviewed the driver and witnesses, collected evidence, and took
measurements to determine the cause of the crash.
The driver of the SUV, who
remained at the scene, was uninjured. In consultation with the City of
Richmond’s Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, no charges will be filed against the
driver of the SUV.
