BACKGROUND:
Interim Chief William Smith, Command Staff and other Richmond Police Department
officers will walk at 5:00 p.m. today through the Fan neighborhood.
During the walk, officers will speak with community members about safety
concerns they may have and what they would like to see from the Richmond Police
Department.
Sector 313 Lt. Bill Woo said the area, like many in the city of
Richmond, has seen an increase in property crimes such as theft from motor
vehicles and motor vehicle theft.
“We want to provide prevention tips and make sure we stay connected with the
neighborhood and make them feel safe, Lt. Woo said. “
This event is the
latest in a series of walks conducted by the Richmond Police Department in
neighborhoods throughout the city.
