Child Located in Parental Abduction, Mother Charged

Last night the Richmond Police Department located the mother and child from a parental abduction investigation. Both are in good health.

Second Precinct officers, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force and the RPD K-9 unit, arrested Latina Townes, 39, of Richmond without incident and charged her with parental abduction. Her booking photo is attached. Her daughter, Lavasia Townes, 1, is now in the custody of the city of Richmond’s Department of Social Services.

Previously, Lavasia was last seen on Saturday, February 12 in the company of her mother. They were the subject of an advisory from RPD on February 22. The Department thanks the media for sharing the alert and the public for providing information which assisted in this investigation.
