Chief Edwards to Hold Briefing to Discuss End-of-Year Crime Stats
WHAT: End-of-year Public Safety Briefing
to the Community
WHEN: 10 a.m., TOMORROW, Thursday, January 16,
2025
WHERE: The briefing location is at RPD
Headquarters, 200 W. Grace St.
Chief of Police Rick Edwards will address
crime stats impacting the public and highlight strategies that reduced property
and violent crime in 2024. U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia,
Jessica Aber, will join Chief Edwards to discuss the recent seizing of a
property used for years as a drug operation in the East End.
BACKGROUND:
This crime briefing will inform the community of crime trends impacting
public safety, recognize successful multi-jurisdictional operations, outline department
strategies, and announce again the
upcoming opportunities for members of the public to engage in community events
to participate in a joint effort to reduce crime.
