Arrest Made in Richmond
Highway Homicide
Following indictments obtained by a grand jury, the suspect in the homicide
that occurred in the 3600 block of Richmond Highway in December has now
been charged for that incident.
Walter
Coleman, 58, of Henrico, has been charged
with murder and use of a firearm in relation to this homicide. Coleman turned
himself in to local authorities on January 22. His booking photo is currently
unavailable.
At
approximately 1:21 p.m., Saturday, December 14, officers were
called to the 3600 block of Richmond Highway for the report of a robbery
that was upgraded to a shooting. Officers arrived and located an adult male, Wesley
Jefferson, 37, of Richmond, down on the ground with an apparent gunshot
wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Medical
Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
