 Chamberlayne Avenue Fatal Collision Investigation

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is investigating the fatal collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred on Chamberlayne Avenue this morning.

At approximately 11 a.m., officers were called to a collision in the 2300 block of Chamberlayne Avenue. A vehicle being operated southbound left the roadway onto the sidewalk, struck a pedestrian and collided with a structure. The vehicle continued along the sidewalk where it struck an unoccupied car before coming to a stop.

The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The adult male driver and an adult female passenger in the striking vehicle were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

Both directions of Chamberlayne Avenue were closed during the investigation but have now reopened.

The investigation continues.
