Victim Identified in North Monroe Homicide Investigation

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the shooting on North Monroe Street on Friday as Lamar Butler, 25, of Richmond.

At approximately 11:39 p.m., officers heard gunshots while on patrol near the intersection of West Broad and North Monroe streets. Officers responded to the 300 block of North Monroe Street and found a male, Butler, down and unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives with the RPD Major Crimes division are continuing to investigate and are not currently seeking anyone for this shooting.
