Redd Street Homicide and Arrest

A man shot during a robbery Friday night on Redd Street has died of his injuries.

Gary S. Green, 41, of Henrico, died this morning. He and another man were robbed at gunpoint by two unknown males at approximately 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, in the 1900 block of Redd Street. During the crime, one of the robbers shot Green.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Russell L. Johnson, 28, of the 600 block of Hancock Street, late Saturday evening and charged him with conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit malicious wounding and use of a firearm during the commission of a robbery.

Investigators have worked around the clock this weekend to identify and find Johnson, but they still ask anyone with any information about this crime to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637 first using the word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both methods are anonymous.
