Richmond and VCU
Police detectives have identified and arrested five individuals in connection
with four downtown robberies in the past week.
After two men were held against their will and robbed at
gunpoint at approximately 5:30 a.m.
yesterday in the 500 block of West Franklin Street, VCU Police officers
received information about a possible suspect.
Last night, VCU
Police Officer Chelsey Cocke identified and detained the suspect while
further investigation by Richmond Police
Fourth Precinct Detectives Patrick Mansfield and John Walker, they charged
the man with one count each of robbery and use of a firearm during the
commission of a felony. Additional charges are pending and his name and mugshot
will be released later tonight.
Arrests have also been made in reference to the armed
robbery of two men on Sept. 17 in
the 500 block of North Lombardy Street,
the robbery of a man in the 1600 block
of Grove Avenue that same evening and another man in the 1300 block of West Cary Street early
the next morning.
Third Precinct
Detective Jack Larry and Fourth Precinct Detective Mark Godwin are
continuing their investigations into these crimes and more information will be
released when it’s available.
