Suspect Sought in Puppy Robbery

Richmond Police detectives need the public’s help to locate Tion L. Oliver, the suspect in the armed robbery of seven puppies last week.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 10, a male and two females went to the 1900 block of Chelsea Street to meet a prospective buyer of their seven pit bull puppies. They had made contact with the buyer on the Craigslist website.

Oliver met the three, brandished a firearm and stole the puppies. Oliver fired a shot during the incident. There were no injuries.

Oliver, 21, of the 3500 block of Maryland Avenue, is a black male, 5’ 5” tall and 150 pounds. He is known to frequent the Raven Street area of Mosby Court.

Detectives have arrested one juvenile male in connection with the incident and recovered one of the dogs. He has been charged with possession of stolen property. Six puppies remain at large.

The puppies are approximately six weeks old and colored gray and brindled (gray or tawny with darker streaks or spots). The puppy that has been recovered has been returned to the sellers – who have elected not to sell him. They have named him, ‘Lucky.’
