The incident occurred back on Thursday, April 23 at approximately 1:46 a.m. in the 1100 block of North 21st Street, where it intersects with R Street. Officers were in the area, heard several gunshots and as they responded, the Richmond Department of Emergency Communications received calls for a person shot.  Once on scene, they located the male victim in the street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  He was taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.  The victim’s family has asked that we not release his name.
