Suspect Sought in Shockoe Market Robbery

The Richmond Police Department is investigating the Monday night robbery of the Shockoe Market at 1802 E. Main St.

Around 8:47 p.m. on May 9, a man carrying a butcher knife entered the store, jumped over the counter and threatened a store employee. He demanded money from the cash register. The suspect took the money and ran from the store, headed east on Main Street.

The suspect is a black male. He was wearing a white mask, a dark-colored knit cap, a light-gray hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored sweatpants, black-and-white shoes and a dark-colored gloves. Photos of the robbery from the store’s surveillance camera accompany this advisory.
