 Collision Results in Fatality on North Hamilton Street

 The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is investigating a collision in a parking lot on North Hamilton Street that resulted in a fatality.

At approximately 8:08 a.m., officers were called to the 1600 block of North Hamilton Street for the report of collision. Officers arrived and found several parked vehicles that had been damaged and found a female in her 80’s, down and unresponsive.

The RPD Crash Team responded and has determined the female and sole occupant had been operating her vehicle in the parking lot when her sedan collided with several parked and unoccupied vehicles. She sustained injuries during the collisions and was pronounced dead at the scene.

 Arrest Made, Victim Identified in St. Paul Street Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the homicide that occurred on Monday as Tynisa Tony, 29, of Richmond.

At approximately 4:16 p.m., officers were called to the 900 block of St. Paul Street for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found an adult female, Tony, down and unresponsive on a sidewalk, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injury.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

The offender, Alfontasia Elleby, 25, of Richmond, was arrested and charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Her booking photo is attached.

Officers arrived and found an adult female down and unresponsive on a sidewalk, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injury.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Detectives have detained an adult female as part of the ongoing investigation.

At approximately 8:35 p.m., officers were called to the 300 block of Calhoun Street for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found a male down and unresponsive in a courtyard of an apartment building. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Victim Identified in Lancelot Avenue Homicide

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the homicide that occurred Saturday, November 5, on Lancelot Avenue as Ken’Twon Johnson, 26, of Richmond.

November 5, at approximately 6:22 p.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of Lancelot Avenue for the report of trouble unknown and was upgraded to a person shot. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Johnson, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

His family is asking for the public’s assistance in finding those responsible for this murder.

At approximately 11:19 p.m., officers responded to the 1400 block of Drewry Street for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found an adult male, Oliver, down on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on scene.

2022 Richmond Marathon Closures and No Parking

The 2022 Richmond Marathon is just days away. Runners will take to city streets on Saturday, November 12. There will be numerous “No Parking” zones and street closures in effect as a result.

The Richmond Police Department is asking motorists and pedestrians to be aware of the many roads that will be closed across the city to accommodate the marathon. Vehicles parked along the race course will be towed to accommodate the event starting at 9 p.m., Friday, November 11.

Please be aware of signs restricting parking and detours throughout the city starting at 10 a.m., Friday, November 11 and continuing through 7 p.m., Saturday, November 12.

Missing Man Sought

 

The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a Richmond man who has been reported missing by his family.

Devin Atkinson, 31, was last seen on Monday, September 19th around 12 P.M. Atkinson may possibly be operating a gray 2002 Chevy Tahoe, Virginia license plate number TVS4216. He was last seen near his residence in the 1000 block of Newkirk Drive.

Atkinson suffers from a medical condition so there is a concern for his safety.

Atkinson is approximately 6’ 1” tall and weighs about 165 pounds.

Arrest Made for Homicide of Juvenile Victim Found on North 23rd Street

Richmond Police detectives, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force, on Tuesday arrested the suspect in the murder of a juvenile on North 23rd Street.

A juvenile male, 17, of Richmond, has been charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

At approximately 2:37 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, officers were called to the 2200 block of North 23rd Street for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found a juvenile male, 17, down and unresponsive in a residential disposal container. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Detectives have worked tirelessly on this investigation since the senseless, violent incident,” said Acting Chief Rick Edwards. “Their diligent efforts succeeded in identifying the suspect – and with the help of our federal partners he was located and apprehended without incident.”

Collision and Fire Impacts Downtown Traffic

A tanker truck collision on Interstate 64/95 in downtown Richmond has disrupted traffic in the area.

At approximately 12:04 p.m., Richmond Police Department officers were called to the interchange of Belvidere Street and I-64/I-95 to assist Virginia State Police and the Richmond Fire Department with the collision. A tanker truck, operating on the interstate, crashed at the underpass of Belvidere Street and caught fire.

Traffic has been impacted throughout the downtown area as vehicles are detoured off the interstate and the major artery of Belvidere Street and the interchange with the interstate are closed.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and take alternate routes, such as the Downtown Expressway.

Belvidere Street will remain closed between Leigh and Mitchell streets and the interchange with I-64/I-95 will remain closed until the collision is cleared and the overpass is inspected.
