Evergreen Avenue Homicide, Officer-Involved Shooting
The Richmond Police Department is investigating a homicide and the search for the suspect which resulted in an officer-involved shooting.
At approximately 10:39 a.m., Second Precinct officers were called to a residence in the 1100 block of Evergreen Avenue for the report of a person shot inside a home. Officers arrived and, fearing for the safety of an injured person inside the structure, breached the door. Officers found an adult female down and unresponsive suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injury.
Officers were able to develop suspect information and a vehicle description which was shared with other officers. At approximately 11:09 a.m., two Fourth Precinct officers encountered the suspect outside of his vehicle in the 4200 block of North Avenue. The officers fired their service weapons, striking and injuring the suspect. Officers were not injured. Officers at the scene rendered aid to the suspect. He was then transported to a local hospital with an injury that was considered life threatening. Officers recovered a firearm at the scene.
These incidents are under investigation.
