Jefferson Davis Highway Victim Identified



The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim in last night’s shooting as Milton F. Jackson, 51, of the 2100 block of Lauderdale Drive, Henrico.

Last night at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Richmond Police Department received a call of a shot fired in the 3100 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. Officers arrived within one minute and found Jackson in his vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.

An ambulance rushed the victim to VCU Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause of death.

Jackson was an employee of the Family Dollar store and was found in the parking lot of the business. The store was closed at the time of the incident. Detectives believe three suspects approached Jackson’s vehicle and attempted to rob him.

The three suspects were seen leaving the area on foot after the shooting. They are all described as black males, between 5 feet ten inches and six feet tall. The first suspect was wearing a grey t-shirt and tan trousers. The second suspect was wearing a white t-shirt and dark blue jeans. The third suspect was wearing a black t-shirt and white trousers.

They fled southbound on Jefferson Davis Highway.
